Over time it's become clear there are two elements of fashion that never go out of style—black and denim. Inspired by James Dean, Tampa-based fashion brand Black & Denim aims to create apparel that embraces a bold, cool, and most of all, timeless image. The menswear line features stylish crew t-shirts, v-necks, woven shirts, and denim jeans, showcasing classic Americana appeal.

The designers—Roberto Torres, Chris Findeisen, and Luis Montanez—all came together to create an apparel brand that would combine classic edgy style with a deep underlying root to it all. Chris explains that they want their clothes to emulate the time in America when the idea of revolution was strong.

"It is all about bringing back that timeless period of when we were happy, proud and wanted to fight for things we were passionate about," Chris says. "That time where the idea of self-pride and pride of culture was so significant."

"We want to encourage our consumers to wear their clothing with pride," says Chris. It is important to the designers that their consumers are able to send out the signal they want when wearing Black & Denim. This is why they also place a strong emphasis on quality.

"Anyone can come up with a design," explains Roberto. "But I believe in the total appeal. It's about following the basics... the right cut, the right feel, the right fabric. Everything has to come together. It's like cooking in the sense where you have to make everything from scratch; you have to make sure you are hitting everything on the nail and include all the components."

The guys at Black & Denim believe that the design of a shirt will make someone pick it up, but the quality and feel will make them try it on and buy that shirt.

Described as "Apparel for the Brave," Black & Denim is inspired by history, culture, and progress. The designs on their shirts range from sharp music notes floating across the seams to fierce portraits of artillery and airliners. Their original patterns embrace a combination of American military, musical, and Latino themes. The brand deviates from designs that are saturated in the market (think all over prints, skulls, crosses, rhinestones). Instead their designs are influenced by the classic simplicity of comfort and style in original T-shirts and blue jeans.
