POST-SPARKLYPTIC
Flashback to the Inaugural SoLily Fashion Show
The evening began with tarot card readings, Love at First Bite cupcakes, and New Orleans cuisine. Tania Harvey of Tawneys Artful Bodies was on hand painting works of art on event-goers' faces, topping each look off with a liberal dusting of glitter. This was, after all, SoLily's "Glitterama" fashion show.
The inaugural show for SoLily Fashions, a new line designed by Holley Sinn and Lisa Alban Nicks, centered around the "Hippie Sparkle" collection. The setting was surfer-chic, with surfboards serving as the backdrop for the designs. A flip-flop-fashioned "Patty Melt" (Matthew McGee by day) led the evening's festivities, held at downtown St. Petersburg's Push Ultra Lounge. As the lights dimmed, a remix of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" played and the show began. Friends of Holley and Lisa walked the runway in lieu of traditional models, giving the show a fun and, yes, so lively feel.
Proceeds from the sparkly evening benefitted Feeding Children Everywhere, a charity dedicated to providing healthy meals for hungry children.
The collection had a bohemian surfer-chic aesthetic, and the show itself felt like a celebration (complete with tambourines). Personally, I have my eye on a turquoise dress with a low, embellished front. I'm looking forward to seeing what Holley and Lisa produce next.
